TBC Classic PVP Guide

Overview

Holy Paladin is the most durable healer in TBC PVP. Plate armor, Divine Shield (Bubble), Blessing of Protection, and Blessing of Sacrifice give you and your teammates unmatched survivability tools. Freedom keeps melee DPS mobile. You excel in comps where your teammates need to be kept alive through heavy burst — no healer survives focus fire better than a Holy Paladin. The weakness is zero offensive CC and vulnerability to mana drain.

Faction Racials

alliance

Human — Perception

Detects stealthed enemies. Knowing where the Rogue is before they open gives your team a massive advantage. Best Alliance Paladin race for PVP.

Dwarf — Stoneform

Removes bleeds and poisons. Useful against Rogues and Warriors. Fear Ward is not available to Paladin. Solid but Human Perception is better.

Blood Elf — Arcane Torrent

AoE Silence for 2 seconds + mana return. The Silence is useful for interrupting enemy casts in melee range. Only Horde Paladin option in TBC.

Arena Strategy

Paladin Fundamentals

Flash of Light is your primary heal — fast, mana efficient, and spammable. Holy Light for emergencies only — the cast time is too long under pressure. Keep Blessing of Freedom on your DPS to prevent kiting. Blessing of Sacrifice to split damage when a teammate is being focused.

Bubble and Defensive Cooldowns

Divine Shield (Bubble) is your ultimate reset. 12 seconds of complete immunity. Use it when you are about to die — heal to full, drink if possible. Do NOT waste Bubble early on chip damage. It is a one-time reset per game.

Blessing of Protection makes a target immune to physical damage for 10 seconds. BoP your DPS partner if they are being trained by a Warrior or Rogue. It drops aggro and physical damage — but they can still be hit by magic.

Cleanse and Dispels

Cleanse removes one Magic, Poison, or Disease effect. Use it aggressively — dispel Polymorph off teammates, remove DoTs, cleanse Blind. You cannot dispel Cyclone or Fear (those are Curse/Magic that require specific dispels). Prioritize dispelling CC over dispelling damage.

vs Arms Warrior

Medium (5/10)

Warriors MS you but you have plate and Bubble. Freedom your DPS to prevent Hamstring kiting. HoJ the Warrior during team goes. Cleanse Hamstring if no Freedom. Mana management is key — MS increases your mana cost per effective heal.

vs Subtlety Rogue

Medium (4/10)

Plate armor reduces Rogue damage significantly. BoP yourself during stunlock. Bubble as last resort. Cleanse Blind. HoJ the Rogue during their burst.

vs SL/SL Warlock

Medium (6/10)

DoTs pressure your mana hard. Cleanse DoTs costs mana. Curse of Tongues slows your casts. You cannot dispel Curse — need teammate to help. Long game is tough if they Tongues you consistently.

vs Frost Mage

Medium (5/10)

Cleanse Polymorph off teammates. HoJ the Mage if they get close. Bubble through Shatter combo. Counterspell doesn't lock your school if you juke it. Mage kiting is annoying but not lethal.

vs Restoration Druid

Medium (6/10)

Cyclone is your worst nightmare. You cannot dispel or prevent Cyclone. Every Cyclone is 6 seconds of no healing. The Druid wins the CC war. Your only answer is LoS and HoJ when Druid is close.

vs Discipline Priest

Medium (5/10)

Mana Burn drains you. LoS every Burn — 3 second cast. Cleanse SW:Pain. Their Mass Dispel removes your Bubble — be aware. You outheal them but Burn decides the long game.

Battleground Strategy

Battleground Role

You are the unkillable node defender. Plate armor + Bubble + BoP = nobody solo-kills you. Hold AB flags alone against 2-3 attackers until reinforcements arrive. In WSG, heal the flag carrier. Freedom the FC through snares. Aura for group utility. In team fights, Flash of Light spam keeps your melee alive.
