Shaman / Warrior

Shaman/Warrior is a comp that lives and dies by the Bloodlust opener. Bloodlust gives the Warrior 30% attack speed for 40 seconds — during this window, MS damage is insane and many teams simply die before it expires. The problem is after Bloodlust fades, this comp is significantly weaker than Warrior/Druid or Warrior/Paladin. Shamans are easy to train (no mobility, no CC immunity), and Earth Shield can only do so much when focused. Play this comp if you want explosive openers and fast games.

General Strategy

Win during Bloodlust. That is the gameplan. Pop Bloodlust at the start of the match, the Warrior goes all-in on the kill target with MS + Recklessness, and you heal through everything with Earth Shield + Lesser Healing Wave spam. If the enemy is not dead or near-dead when Bloodlust ends, you are in trouble.

After Bloodlust, your sustained pressure drops significantly. The Warrior still does solid damage but you lack the CC of a Druid (no Cyclone) and the survivability of a Paladin (no Bubble). Long games against Druid comps are very difficult because the Druid will drink for free while you struggle to keep up with healing.

Shaman Role

Earth Shield on the Warrior before the gates open. Bloodlust immediately. Spam Lesser Healing Wave on the Warrior during the burst phase — LHW is fast and efficient for keeping the Warrior alive during the aggressive opener. Drop Grounding Totem to absorb enemy CC on you.

Purge is your best utility spell. Purge HoTs off enemy kill targets, Purge shields (Power Word: Shield, Ice Barrier), and Purge buffs (Blessing of Freedom, Innervate). Aggressive Purging during the Bloodlust window makes the enemy healer's job much harder.

Wind Shear is a 6-second interrupt with no cooldown on school lock. Use it aggressively to interrupt enemy healer casts during kill windows. Combined with the Warrior's Pummel, you can lock out healers for extended periods.

Warrior Role

Go extremely aggressive during Bloodlust. MS + Slam + Execute spam with Recklessness is your kill window. Do not play safe during Lust — this is your moment. Intercept aggressively, Hamstring everything, and dump every cooldown.

After Bloodlust fades, play more conservatively. You need to protect the Shaman — if they die, you lose. Peel melee off the Shaman with Hamstring and Intimidating Shout. The Shaman has no escape tools like Travel Form or Blink, so your peeling is critical.

Totem Management

Tremor Totem against Warlock and Priest teams — breaks Fear on pulse. Grounding Totem absorbs one harmful spell targeting you — critical against Polymorph, Fear, and Mana Burn. Earthbind Totem to slow melee training the Shaman. Totem placement and timing is a big part of Shaman skill.

Enemy teams will target your totems. Be ready to re-drop key totems (especially Tremor and Grounding) when they are killed. Totem stomping is a real strategy and you need to manage it.

Matchups

vs Warrior / Druid

Must kill during Bloodlust. Train the Druid. Purge HoTs. Wind Shear + Pummel to lock out healing. If Druid survives Lust, game gets very hard.
